Obituary - Ronald Alvin Jackson

Ronald Alvin Jackson, 81, the youngest of seven children, was born June 30, 1942 in Merwin, Missouri to Ernest Edward and Dortha Christina (Holm) Jackson. He departed this life May 18, 2024 in Stover, Missouri.

After 8th grade graduation Ronnie went to work for his brother to help support the family. A few years later, he became a trucker for Tiona Truckline, finishing his trucking career at La Cygne Power Plant hauling ash. Following retirement from trucking, Ronnie and Margie opened the Dari-Burg in Appleton City, a restaurant which they operated for 21 years, as well as opening a convenience store in Warsaw. Retirement?!

In his early years, Ronnie was a member of the Butler Saddle Club and found much pleasure going on trail rides with friends. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Butler, Missouri. Attending car shows and participating in tractor pulls brought him much joy, souping-up the old tractors and bringing home many trophies to place on his shelf brought a smile to his face. Ronnie spent a good bit of time driving his red golf cart all over town, stopping to visit with everyone. He enjoyed his mules and going on mule rides, along with hunting and deer hunting with the boys. He liked to stop by Don’s Place and Spuds to shoot the breeze.

Ronnie loved his family. He delighted in picking on his kids and grandkids and playing pranks on them (as well as others). Ronnie was very supportive of his kids and grandkids, always being there to cheer them on at their sporting events.

Preceding Ronnie in death were his parents; two sons, Travis Jackson and Scott Jackson; and three brothers, Orville, Gibb and Charles Jackson. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Jackson; four children, Brenda (Phil) Haverland, Trampus (Christy) Jackson, Bob Story and Sean (Jackie) Stuckey; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday May 22nd from 10-11am with Funeral to follow at 11am at the Hill & Sons Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri.
