MINDENMINES, MO… Dave Sorrick of In God We Trust LLC will host a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the signing of the federal legislation that designated “In God We Trust” as our federal motto on Wednesday, July 29 at a brief gathering at 1:00 pm in downtown Mindenmines. President Eisenhower signed the historic legislation into law on July 30, 1956. Since that time the motto “In God We Trust” has appeared on all U.S. coins and currency.
“It was seventy years ago during the post-World War II and Cold War era that our nation formally adopted our national motto,” Sorrick stated. “The legislation also mandated the inclusion of ‘In God We Trust’ on our currency, as had been the practice on our coinage since 1864,”he added.
In God We Trust LLC, a coin and precious metals business located at 611 Main, Mindenmines in SW Missouri, will host an Open House from 10am to 2pm Wednesday July 29 to mark the occasion. All visitors will receive a free Eisenhower dollar coin and a new Visit Barton County, Missouri guide.
“At 1pm we will pause to give thanks for our great nation and extend an invitation to local and regional candidates to share their thoughts as we approach our 2026 election cycle. All area elected officials and candidates for local, regional and statewide offices in Missouri and neighboring Kansas are invited to join the community members taking part in the activities,” Dave added.
