1821 The first white marriage in Bates Co takes place at Harmony Mission, when Mr. Fuller & Miss Eliza Howell take the vows after just 5 days of courtship.
1886 The Adrian Hotel is for sale, 22 rooms, large cistern & a 75 feet frontage on Main street.
1934 Inmana's Flying Circus is in Butler with their metal Ford Tri-motor plane, doing stunts and taking people for rides at $1 a person (airport located on the South edge of Butler).
1947 At the A&P Grocery store on the Butler square, 20 oz loaf of white bread, 13 cents and fresh peaches 2 lbs are 23 cents.
1960 The two day Hume Fair opens.
1989 Toby Nettie, 11 year old grandson of Mr & Mrs George Ross, of Butler, is the featured singer at the Cass County Opry in Harrisonville.
2000 The 9th annual Papinville picnic is a great success, despite heat and dry conditions.
