Butler Police Department Press Release: Butler Woman Arrested Form Distribution

On 5/5/2014 the Butler Police Department and the CNET Drug Task Force successfully purchased prescription narcotics from a local woman, 53 year old Pamela Thomas. Thomas who is from Butler, MO sold prescription narcotics to a Drug Task Force Agent during the operation. Thomas was then stopped by the Butler Police Department and arrested for the distribution of prescription narcotics.  Thomas was charged with Distribution of a Controlled Substance with a bond set at $25,000.00 cash or surety. 

Butler Police Department: Man Flees From Butler Police

On 05/03/14 a White Impala was stopped for a speeding infraction at Orange and Vine streets.  Officers were alerted by dispatch that the tags on that vehicle were stolen out of Kansas City, MO.  Officers then contacted the driver, 28 year old Jonathan Barber.  Officers attempted to take Barber into custody when Barber fled on foot.  Officers quickly apprehended the suspect after a short foot chase and transported him to jail.  Barber was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, speeding, no valid driver’s license, improper registration, and no seatbelt.


Bates County Sheriffs Office: Butler Couple Arrested On Child Endangerment Charges

On 5/7/14 the Bates County Sheriff’s Detectives made an arrest on Michael J Coffman of Butler, Missouri.  Coffman was arrested on 6 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and 3 counts of 2nd degree assault.  Coffman’s bond was set at $90,000 cash or surety.   Michael Coffman is out of jail on bond.   

A second subject is currently being sought in connection with the case.  That subject has been identified as Shawna K Coffman.  A warrant for Shawna Coffman has been issued for 6 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and 3 counts of 2nd degree assault. 

This case stems from a hotline of a child abuse or neglect.  During the investigation it was determined that the parents had put locks on all the cabinets and refrigerator to prevent the children from having access to food.  It was also determined that there was physical abuse of the children in the house.  

Shawna Coffman knows that there are multiple warrants for her arrest and it appears she is avoiding law enforcement.

Bates County Sheriffs Office: Amoret Woman Arrested


On 5/5/14, the Bates County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Megan D. Henderson of Amoret, Missouri, for 1st Degree endangering the welfare of a child.  On 1/15/14, Detectives received a report of a sexual assault of a child.  During that investigation it was discovered that Henderson knowingly moved her two young children into the home of a registered sex offender and left them unattended with that sex offender on multiple occasions.  

Butler Senior Center Monday Chicken Dinner

The Butler Senior Center still has tickets to sell for the Chicken Dinner Monday evening, May 12; serving 5 to 7 pm

Monday is when many restaurants are closed. So come and enjoy a finger-licken chicken dinner with beans and potato salad on Monday evening. 

Tickets available at the center today for $7.50 each or can be bought from Board members. Probably tickets still available at the door on Monday.

Linn County Kansas Sheriff's Office Press Release

With the summer months approaching more people are leaving their residences for vacation trips. If you notify the Sheriff's Office of the days you will be gone we will have a deputy drive by your residence at various times while you are gone. Call 913-795-2666 and have the following information: name, address, phone numbers, dates leaving and return, description of residence, vehicles left at the residence, outside lights, lights on in the residence, pets, alarm company if applicable and persons authorized to be on the property.

Adrian Alumni Golf Tournament

The Adrian Alumni Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 10th at the Butler Country Club.
The 2 person scramble will begin at 8am and you must have at least one alumni member per team.

The entry fee of $90 will include green fees, tee prizes and flight prizes. Carts may be rented for $40 per team and they must know by May 8th if you need to rent a cart.

Payments may be made in advance or paid on Saturday, May 10th when you register. There is a limit of 27 teams so please RSVP as soon as possible.

Adrian Alumni Co-ed Volleyball Tournament

The Adrian Alumni Co-ed Volleyball Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 10th at the Adrian City Park.

The entry fee is $100 per team and all proceeds will go to the Adrian High School Alumni Association.
