Amsterdam woman seriously injured in Bates County rollover accident

On 12/9/16 around 10:18 pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriffs Office and Drexel Police Department responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Missouri 18 Highway at NW 13001 Road in rural Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2005 Ford Escape driven by 29 year old Cassandra L. Long of Amsterdam, Missouri lost control in a curve causing the vehicle to skid and travel off the east side of the roadway and overturn.

Cassandra L. Long sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by R/T Tow.

Several fire agencies in Cass County save puppies from barn fire

At 06:17hr on December 7th The Dolan West Dolan Fire District along with mutual aid from several other fire agencies were called to a reported structure fire involving a large barn. First units on scene reported heavy smoke and fire showing.

During the fire attack, Dolan crews heard yelping puppies coming from one corner of the barn and they moved in to rescue. 

Fire crews found 2 puppies trapped in wooden pallets. Both were rescued and received medical care from Harrisonville Emergency Services before being transferred to the care of a veterinarian.

A big thank you to West Peculiar, Western Cass FD, Central Cass Fire, Harrisonville Emergency Services, Drexel Fire and Cass County Sheriff for your assistance in a positive outcome.

Obituary - Skyler E. Harrill

Skyler E. Harrill, age 27 years, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Missouri.

Arrest warrants issued in St.Clair County

On Dec. 7, a St. Clair County warrant was issued for Micheal Hall, 26, Deepwater, charging him with class C felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety. The charge stems from a Lowry City Police Department investigation Aug. 31.

On Dec. 7, a St. Clair County warrant was issued for Delbert Gould, 31, Osceola, charging him with failing to appear in court on misdemeanor charges of driving while revoked, no insurance, and displaying the plates of another. Bond is set at $500 cash or surety. The charges stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Sept. 21 when Gould was observed driving a vehicle in Osceola. A traffic stop was conducted and it was discovered Gould did not have a valid license and the license plates on the vehicle were registered to another vehicle. He was unable to provide any insurance information.

Another warrant was issued for Gould the same day charging him with failing to appear in court on misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended. Bond on these charges is set at $5,000 cash only. The charges stem from an Osceola Police Department investigation on Aug. 8.


Obituary - Carl Benjamin (Ben) Bordelon

Carl B. Bordelon, 34 of Buter, Missouri passed away December 8, 2016 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.  

Cremation, with a memorial visitation to be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009).  

There will be no service.  Memorial contributions may be made to a fund for his children.  Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com

Carl Benjamin Bordelon was born November 23, 1982 to Carl and Marion Cook.  He grew up and attended school in Butler, Missouri.  Carl was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.  

He is survived by his four children, friend Megan Norris, brother Paul Bordelon and significant other Sara Hall of Fort Scott, KS, sister Angela Bordelon of Monroe, GA, three nieces and one nephew.
