5K Walk/Run for Health! The 5K begins and ends at Belton Regional
Medical Center, and raises charitable contributions for our programs for
local youth, including the Cass County Dental Clinic. After you finish
the 5K, stick around for our morning celebration that includes food,
music, prizes and a community health fair! 7:30 a.m. - Check-in/day-of registration begins 8 a.m. - 5K walk and run begins 8:30 a.m. - Celebration begins Participation in the 5K WALK is free! Registration is required, but you can create a team or join a team free of charge. After you register for the 5K WALK, we encourage you to make a donation or raise pledges to support your participation. To participate in the 5K RUN, you must pay the entry fee of $35. Two arrested after seach warrant in Nevada

During the execution of the warrant, officers contacted two female residents of the home. During the search officers located what is believed to be suspected methamphetamine and multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia.
During the course of the investigation officers took into custody both female residents and they were transported to the Vernon County Jail. The suspected methamphetamine will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol laboratory for further testing.
Earlier this week Nevada Police had served a search warrant in connection with a fugitive being at the residence that was identified as, 28 year old, Dustin Pike of Nevada. Also during the warrant officers located suspected methamphetamine and other related drug paraphernalia.
Officers were eventually able to apprehend Pike a few days later at a nearby residence.
The two suspects have been identified as follows; Nevada resident, 23 year old, Casey Brown. The following charges have been filed through the Vernon County Associate Court as follows; Possession of a Controlled Substance, D Felony, Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance, E Felony with a bond of $10,000 cash only.
Also, Nevada resident, 44 year old, Linda Walters. The following charges have been filed through the Vernon County Associate Court as follows Possession of a Controlled Substance, D Felony, Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance, E Felony with a bond of $7,500 cash only. Both Walters and Brown remain in the Vernon County Jail.
Citizens are encouraged to contact the police if they have any information that would be helpful to combat crime.

Nevada Speedway sold to new owner
We the Anders family would like to thank our loyal fans and racers who have continued to support Nevada Speedway. At this time we would like to announce we have sold the track to Rob Hail.

Obituary - Wanda Arlene Cox

Lorimer Cox passed in 1996 and Wanda later moved to Independence, Kansas to live closer to family. Two children were born of this union, Marsha Cox Dieker and the late Larry Dieker of Columbus, Ohio, and Garen Cox and his wife, Waneta Mitts Cox of Independence, Kansas. Wanda is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Webb and Rodrick Chapel and Crematory in Independence, Kansas with graveside services in Pleasanton, Kansas to follow at 3:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 13 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO.
