Missing dogs near Adrian

The boys are still missing. Been a week . Last seen north of Adrian on east side of 49/71 on 2/17.

If seen or know what's happened to them please let me know. A cash reward is offered for finding them.

White with black spots is an English setter named patch, black with white chest is a border collie mix named ace. They are friendly dogs.

Stolen vehicle in Butler

The Butler Police Department is attempting to locate a stolen 1993 black in color Chevrolet step side truck that was stolen from a residence located at 308 East Oak Street in Butler this morning.

The truck is said to have a Missouri Licences plate number of 0PZ-718 and a bent or twisted bumper on the back drivers side of the vehicle.

Obituary - Betty Jean Reed

Betty Jean Reed, 88, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Nevada Nursing and Rehab in Nevada. Betty was born March 8, 1930 in Coffeyville, KS to John Delbert and Violet Ellen (Secrest) Reed.

Betty was raised in Coffeyville and she attended school there. Betty was a member of the First Christian Church in Coffeyville. She has lived in Nevada most of her adult life.

Survivors include one sister, Doris D. (Reed) Gowen; three nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield, MO.


Obituary - Paul Clyde Stewart

Paul Clyde Stewart, 70, Nevada, MO passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Medicalodges in Nevada. Paul was born August 27, 1948 in Portland, OR to Claude Eldred and Edna Marthabelle (White) Stewart. He was united in marriage to Barbara Lea Sutcliffe and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2018.

Paul moved from Oregon to Missouri in 1956, at the age of eight, with his family. He attended school in Rich Hill.

Paul served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War for two years. Following his service years he worked as a dry waller in Nevada for his brother Ray for nearly 30 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Stacie Ann Stewart Holcomb (Shannon), Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, James Stewart, Olathe, KS, Raymond Stewart, Harrisonville, MO; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Barbara he was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Stewart, and one sister, Mary Stone.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Robert Fox officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Butler man arrested on warrants

John C. Calhoun
On 2/25/19 around 7:22pm the Butler Police Department arrested 34 year old John C. Calhoun of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Calhoun was arrested for 1.) (3) Misdemeanor Warrants for failure to appear in court on a city ordinance violation.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and is currently listed as bondable.

In the past couple of weeks we have tried to bring you the daily weather in a jovial fashion (except for that one grumpy forecaster we have) no matter what it brought. Whether it be snow with a smile, cold with a cuddle, or a thaw with warm thoughts.

Some forecasts you liked, some you didn't but, one common theme seemed that nobody wanted the ice so, of course, guess what we have for you today (more like tonight)!?! Yep, you guessed it...(we are so sorry!)...

From the Johnson County Sheriff's Office

On 02/25/19 at approximately 5:40 a.m., Johnson County Deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of NW 200 in rural Kingsville, in regards to a male subject trespassing on the reporting parties property.

Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the subject who initially provided a false name but was later identified as Steven Ward, 40 years old from Lee’s Summit, MO.

Upon further investigation, Deputies learned that Ward had stolen items on his person, belonging to a nearby church.

Mr. Ward was taken into custody and placed on a 24 hour investigative hold. A warrant was obtained for Burglary 2nd degree with a bond of $7,500.00 cash or surety.
