SONIC Drive-In of Butler Partners with Butler High School for Great Cause


BUTLER, MO -- SONIC Drive-In of Butler is partnering with Butler High School Wednesday, October 23. SONIC is donating 10% of sales from 4pm-8pm to help support various school programs and initiatives. 

Stop by and enjoy a fun-filled evening for the whole family. See your favorite teacher carhopping, take pictures with the SONIC costumes and help support our local students. 

“As a member of this community, we value our partnership with the Butler School District and make it a priority to support our local teachers and students whenever possible,” said Miles Umstattd, owner, SONIC Drive-In of Butler. 

In addition to this event, throughout the month of October you can show your support through our annual campaign, LIMEADES for LEARNING.

Clinton woman injured in Henry County Crash

On 10/6/19 around 4:16pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County responded to a one vehicle accident on CR SE 100 and Route W in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Chevrolet driven by 62 year old Lori M. Morgan of Clinton, Missouri was southbound when she traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a mailbox before traveling across the road and coming to rest in a culvert.

Lori M. Morgan sustained minor injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was towed from the scene of the crash by Gary's Tow.

Two seriously injured in Cass County Crash

On 10/6/19 around 4:50pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a two vehicle accident at Missouri 2 Highway and Route C in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1995 Lexus LS400 driven by 29 year old Tracy Marie Cox of Harrisonville, Missouri turned into the path and struck the 1998 Ford Mustang driven by 24 year old Jason L. Hook of Freeman, Missouri.

Both Hook and Cox sustained serious injuries in this accident and both were transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by J's Southland Tow.

Fatality Accident in Cass County

On 10/6/19 around 11:15am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies and Harrisonville Police Department responded to a one vehicle accident in the southbound lane of I-49 and 307th Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2006 Hyundai driven by 19 year old Dallas D. Henderson of Belton, Missouri was traveling at a excessive speed, traveled off the roadway and stuck a embankment.

Mr. Henderson sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by Central Cass Fire to Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

A passenger in the vehicle 20 year old Ardell W. Hooker of Belton, Missouri was life flighted to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri and he was pronounced dead on 10/6/19 at 15:26 hour.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the crash by Miller Tow of Harrisonville.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 56th fatality of 2019.

National Take Back Initiative



On October 26, 2019 from 10am - 2pm local time, DEA will coordinate a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets. This national take-back day will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction and will bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical drug abuse. The program provides an opportunity for law enforcement, prevention, treatment and business communities to collaborate and establish a safe collection site for all Americans, regardless of where they reside. The Butler Police along with the Bates Co Health Department will provide a drop off location at 501 N Orange (Bates Co Health Dept.) Butler MO.


The prescription medication drop box is still available for the public to dispose of unused medications. The drop box located in the lobby of the Butler Police Station and meds can be dropped off anytime 7 days a week 24 hours.
