Obituary - Ray William Young

Ray William Young, age 93, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully at Foxwood Spring Living Center on August 27, 2021.

A private graveside service will take place at the Belton Cemetery, Belton, Missouri.

Ray was born in Grandview, Missouri on May 19th, 1928, to Burr W. Young and Marion Irene Adams. Together, Burr and Marion had seven children, Ray and his twin Raymond, Don, Dorothy, Merle, Leona, and Mary Alice. Ray was joined in marriage with his late wife, Mary Catherine Crow on June 11th, 1948, at the Clea Crow home in Belton, Missouri. Together, they were blessed with three sons, Larry, Gary, and Dennis. In Ray’s life he worked in the Door and Window Sales for many years. Ray loved spending his spare time woodworking, traveling and fishing. Ray was a member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church in Belton, Missouri.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years, Mary Catherine Young; his parents, Burr and Marion Young; four siblings, Don Young, Dorothy Skeens, Merle Baker and Leona Marolf.

Ray is survived by his three sons, Larry R. Young (Susie), Gary L. Young (Rebecca) and Dennis W. Young (Angela); his twin brother, Raymond Jean Young; sister, Mary Alice Clay (Forrest); eight grandchildren, Luke, Corey, Sally, Derrick, Liana, Nathan, Tyler, and Amber; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Fellowship of John c/o Foxwood Spring Living Center 1500 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Missouri.

Obituary - Ronald Brinson Burton

Ronald Brinson Burton, age 78, Blue Mound, Kansas passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Funeral service will be 1 pm Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial in the Curry Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the Mound City Chapel. Contributions are suggested to Linn County Care to Share, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box J, Mound City, Kansas 66056.

Bates Co. Route W Bridge Over Camp Branch CLOSED Sept. 7 & 8 for Bridge Deck Repair

Where: Bates County Route W bridge over Camp Branch between Southeast County Road 6576 and Southeast County Road 5576 east of Rich Hill

 

When: 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday, September 7th and Wednesday, September 8th

 

What: Crews working to repair bridge deck at Camp Branch

 

Traffic Impacts:

  • Both lanes of Route W CLOSED at either end of the bridge
  • Drivers will have access to entrances at either end of the work zone, but will not be able to travel across the bridge
  • All lanes of bridge OPEN during nighttime hours
  • No signed detour
  • Drivers should find alternate route

 

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

CASS CO – Congratulations to Class 2101 of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy. Graduation was held on Friday at the Historic Courthouse in Harrisonville. These graduates will be joining agencies around the region that include, Bates County Sheriff’s Office, Butler Police Department, Blue Springs Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Harrisonville Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

2021 Butler Fall Citywide Clean-up

FALL 2021 CITY WIDE CLEANUP

Week of September 13 – September 17
All houses North of Ft. Scott Street

Week of September 20 – September 24
All houses South of Ft. Scott Street

The City of Butler, in cooperation with Bates County Disposal, will be conducting this citywide clean up for residential properties.

BATES COUNTY DISPOSAL: will pick up old furniture, appliances, paint, batteries and miscellaneous junk. Your clean-up items or trash should be separated from your regular weekly trash but should still be at the curbside. This service is for residential properties only and there is a one pickup load limit per household. They will NOT pick up tires or construction/building materials such as lumber, plywood or shingles. Households with larger amounts must make special arrangements with Bates County Disposal by calling 679-7604. 

THE CITY OF BUTLER: will pick up your normal yard waste of brush and limbs no larger than 6” in diameter. These must be placed at the curb and separate from the trash pickup for Bates County Disposal. Leaves must be bagged in City of Butler leaf bags in order to be collected. There is also a one pickup load limit of brush items per household. 

PLEASE: have your trash or brush ready at curbside by 6:00 a.m. on Monday of your clean-up week. They will not make return trips after they have completed a street. This is a free service provided by the City in the spring and fall of each year. Items not picked up must be removed from the curb immediately.


Isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon

Isolated showers and t-storms are expected across central MO this afternoon. Overnight tonight, another wave of showers and t-storms passes through northern MO and lingers through Tuesday. Most activity will be focused well north of I-70.

Archie man killed in Cass County fatality crash

On August 29th around 6:05 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle fatality accident on Missouri 291 Highway at 215th Street in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2020 Chevrolet driven by 30 year old Delbert L. Hannah of Archie, Missouri began to overcorrect after passing uninvolved traffic, vehicle traveled into the oncoming lane and struck a 2020 Dodge Ram driven by 61 year old Donald E. Beckerdite of Raymore, Missouri head-on.

Mr. Hannah was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident and was transported by the medical examiners office. Mr. Beckerdite sustained serious injuries and was transported to Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment. 

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by J's Southland Tow of Raymore. This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 56th fatality of the year 2021.
