She spent her childhood on farms in Taylor County, Iowa and graduated from Bedford Community High School in 1967. On her twentieth birthday in 1969 Pat enlisted in the United States Air Force. She served in a primary specialty of Bioenvironmental Engineering for 30 years. From 1979 until her retirement, Pat was accompanied by her daughter, Jessica, on the many adventures her enlistment took her. In January of 1999, Pat retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California.

Upon her retirement, Pat returned home to Bedford to be closer to her parents. During the nearly two decades she lived in Bedford, she cultivated friendships, volunteered at the Taylor County Historical Museum, was an active member of American Legion Post 164, and cared for both of her parents. Starting in 2011, Pat took each of her grandchildren on the road every summer for a trip across different areas of the United States with a focus on history, empowerment, fun and memory making. Her family quickly coined these annual excursions “Grammie Adventures”.

In the fall of 2019, Pat moved to Pickering Place in Belton, Missouri to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. The move to this special community would result in friendships and belonging that Pat could not have anticipated. She was an active member of Pickering Place involved in ladies' coffee, the beatification committee, community-potluck, game nights, and general community camaraderie. She had an absolute love for her neighbors.

Worked on WCCA Meeting. Resident Jim Smith states that one of the tracks of land he purchased in 2021 was never transferred from the original owner to his name in the assessor’s office so he has not been receiving the tax bill. He was notified this year by the original owner that they received the bill this year. He came in to check with the assessor and found this to never have been transferred to his ownership. They corrected the file, and he is requesting if the penalties can be waived. The Commission found this to be the county’s clerical error. Trent made the motion to waive the penalty for 2022 and 2023 due to clerical error in transferring ownership in assessor’s office. Ken seconded the motion. All voted yes. Motion passed.
