Obituary - Dustin Bradley Amos

Dustin Bradley Amos, 52, of Adrian, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. 

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. A full obituary will be posted when it becomes available.

Obituary - Tracy Eugene Myers

Tracy Eugene Myers, age 52, of Deepwater, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024. after a courageous battle with cancer. He peacefully departed to a serene, happier realm surrounded by mountains, streams, lakes, wildlife, and cherished family and friends. Tracy was born on October 10, 1971 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Sybil Sue (Autry) Myers and Ernest Eugene Myers.

Tracy, a man of few words, would help anyone in need. His passion was hunting, fishing, and embracing the outdoors. His gardens and house plants flourished under his care, while his collection of prized trophy mounts reflected his passion for the wilderness. Tracy loved turkey hunting and could often call them to his porch. His cherished deer and elk hunting expeditions, especially with his close friends Ted and Terry, brought him immense fulfillment. He delighted in fishing on Truman Lake and exploring for arrowheads, sharing his expertise proudly with his nephews and others.

Tracy's diverse talents extended to automobile detailing, logging/tree work, and farm/carpentry work.

Preceding him in death were his father, Ernest E. Myers; his grandfather, Theodore Myers; and the love of his life Melissa J. Myers.

Also awaiting his arrival were Melissa Bridges Widmer and Ashley Bridges, his step-sister and step-brother; and his maternal grandparents, Wm E. and Ethel Autry.

Surviving family members include his mother and step-father, Sue and Alvin Bridges ("Pop") of Edwards, Missouri; his beloved brother, Lance D. Long (CJ) of Climax Springs, Missouri; and his caring sister, Carrie Long Carlson of Independence, Missouri. Tracy's favorite nephews are Wesley Biles of Sedalia, Missouri; Cody Carlson (Deidre), of Mead, Oklahoma; William Carlson (Mandy), of Climax Springs, Missouri; and niece Mariah Danforth, of Independence, Missouri. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Opal Myers, and uncle Jon Myers of Deepwater, Missouri; aunts Helen (David) Ballard and Terry (Stan) Beemer; along with numerous other cherished family members and friends.

His final wish was to embark on an RV journey to Colorado and witness the mountains one last time. In the last week of February, he fulfilled this dream, relishing the sight of snow-capped peaks and breathtaking landscapes.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. A private family interment will follow the funeral at the Harris Bend Cemetery in Deepwater, Missouri.

Tracy will forever remain in our hearts, remembered as our country woodsman at peace.

Warsaw man seriously injured in Benton County motorcycle accident

On Wednesday March 20th around 11:00 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Benton County along with Benton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motorcycle accident Hilty Avenue just north of Woods Rock Road in rural Benton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the northbound 2005 Suzuki Motorcycle driven by 40 year old Dustin R. Street of Warsaw, Missouri failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.

Mr. Street sustained serious injuries and he was transported to Bothwell Hospital by private vehicle.

Obituary - Emma Josephine "Jo" Moree

Emma Josephine "Jo" Moree, age 79, of Deepwater, Missouri went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Brownington, Missouri. There will be a Celebration of Life at the home of Chris and Jo at 1031 SE 271 Rd., Deepwater, Missouri after the burial. Memorial contributions can be made to the Clinton Christian Academy and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Jo was born on October 27, 1944, in Jefferson City. Emma was a beloved mother and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Jo had a strong faith and enjoyed reading scripture, puzzling and spending time with her family and friends – and watching the occasional few westerns.

Jo married Christopher Dee Moree on May 11, 2011, and they had a loving and supportive marriage. They raised cattle and are proud members of the Christian Motorcycle Association where Jo served as secretary for many years.

Jo had three daughters from a previous marriage and is survived by her spouse, Christopher Moree of Deepwater Missouri.

Jo was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Pamula Jo Golden and her husband James David Golden and brother Michael Thomas Baxter. She is survived by Children, Donna Marie Son (David Beidel), and Vicki Sue Schrick (Robert). Grandchildren, Jamie Jo Golden, (John Mehling), Jessica Dawn Golden (Blake Snyder) Derrik Mitchele Wiggins, Nicholas Giles Wigggins and Dalton Gregory Son (Tina). Great-Grandchildren Jack Bennett Mehling, Joella James Mehling, Reina Marie Cagle, and Beckett Marie Snyder and sibling Russell Edward Baxter, Other Family Members include Chris Moree Jr., Jason Moree, Philip Beidel, and Noah Moree, and life-long friends Denna Davis, Mary Thompson and Sheryl Seevers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

One dead, Search continues for 2 missing kayakers on Stockton Lake

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the name of the woman who drowned yesterday at Stockton Lake near Crabtree Cove in Benton County.

The victim has been identified as 18 year old Melodie Roberts formerly of South Lyon, Michigan.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the drowning occurred on Wednesday March 20th when a kayak Robert's was in capsized in rough waters. Two other kayakers is said to still be missing at this time.

Stolen ATV recovered in Miami County Kansas

Early this morning Deputies with the Miami County Kansas Sheriff's Office recovered, what they believe to be, a stolen ATV. The alleged theft is believed to have occurred in the Hillsdale area.

We are asking the public to check their property and if they are missing an ATV, to notify us with a description either via Facebook, or contact our Patrol division at 913-294-3232.

Obituary - Caroline Showalter

Caroline Showalter, 81 of Drexel, Missouri passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at her home in Drexel, surrounded by family. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (816-657-4400). 

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am Saturday, also at the chapel, with burial in Sharon Cemetery, Drexel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Drexel United Methodist Church. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Caroline Irene Showalter was born October 15, 1942 in Galesburg, IL to Albert and Ethel Lois Newburg Pelton. She graduated from Drexel High School in 1960. She was united in marriage to Jimmie Dan “Short” Showalter on July 24, 1965. To this union three girls were born, Donita, Janice, and Brenda.

In the early 1970’s Caroline and Short opened a dry-cleaning business, but later she purchased Caroline’s Diner and began her journey in the restaurant business until 1982. Following that she went to work for Allied Signal, which turned into Bendix, then finally Honeywell. She worked there until retirement.

Following retirement, Caroline never set idle. She truly had a servant’s heart, that was obvious to everyone that knew her, so she went to work volunteering. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, a long-time member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, 1960 Homemaker of Tomorrow, helped with Harvester’s food distribution, and served an instrumental role, where she was able to continue her love of cooking, in the local Senior Meals Program and Meals on Wheels.

Caroline enjoyed her time at the lake, pontoon rides, and loved her time with family most of all. Sunday lunches were an occasion you did not want to miss.

When she wasn’t working, volunteering, or cooking, Caroline loved watching sports, especially K-State or Mizzou Tigers football and basketball, but she would still tune into the other college games and of course the NFL.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Ivan and Butch, sister JoAnn Gregory and niece Diane Bartles. She is survived by daughters, Donita Shipman (John) of Mora, MO., Janice Russell (Todd), and Brenda Hadley (Brian Kaufman) of Drexel, MO. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jack Shipman, Wyatt Shipman and wife Melissa, Brandon Russell and wife Ashleigh, Mallari Easterla and husband Matt, Cody Russell, Cassie Hadley, Blake Hadley, Mikalea Hadley, Kendall Hadley, great-grandchildren, Anthony Bradley, Tinlee Easterla, Will Shipman, Emma Shipman, Braxton Russell, Piper Russell, Rae Russell, and Chase Frazier. Along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and good friends Mary & Bill Jones, and Lyn Stark.

Obituary - Teri Lea Riemenschneider

Teri Lea Riemenschneider, 68, Lake Annette, MO, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at Providence Place in Kansas City, KS. Private graveside services will be held at Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 400 S. Independence St., Harrisonville, MO 64701, in Teri’s honor.

Teri was born on June 14, 1955, in Marshalltown, IA, the daughter of John and Mary Jane (Justus) Riemenschneider. Teri was a cherished daughter, devoted family member, and the most loyal friend to everyone who knew her. Teri's journey through life was marked by her unwavering passion for music and the arts, a gift she shared generously with those around her. Graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1973, Teri continued her studies at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music and later obtained a Master's in Business Administration from Mid America Nazarene University. Teri settled into a career as a Collection Manager for Venture Financial Services until her well-earned retirement in 2018. Her commitment to excellence and compassion in her work touched the lives of many.

Teri was an active Girl Scout through High School. The organization and her Girl Scout sisters were dear to her heart throughout her life. Equally important to her was her family at the First Christian Church in Harrisonville, finding joy in community involvement and spiritual enrichment. She found solace and connection through music as a brilliant guitarist and singer, capable of playing an array of musical instruments. For decades, Teri called Lake Annette home, surrounded by the beauty of nature that she so deeply appreciated. Her yard was colored with beautiful flowers, most received from special people in her life.

Teri is survived by her mother, Mary Riemenschneider; her brother, Kim Riemenschneider; her nephew, Jacob (whom she lovingly called Rufus); her aunt, Virginia (Robert) King; her uncle, Jim (Sue) Justus; and many cousins, extended family and friends around the world.
