Michael G.s Greenhouses closing June 15th

We are in our last eight days of this years season, we are closing on Saturday the 15th. We have marked down nearly all of our plants in packs and 4" pots to $1, this includes our larger size succulents in 4" pots also. 

Almost all of our remaining hanging baskets are marked down to $10. All remaining elephant ears, including the dark colored ones are now $15. We still have quite a bit left, more than normal due to all the rain this past month. 

We are out of potting soil for this year. Thank you to all who came out this year. Facebook continues to be the most effective way for us to advertise since it is in real time. Our other ads are placed a week prior normally and things change a lot in a week.

Obituary - Mary Rae Scott

Mary Rae Scott, 92, of Clinton, Missouri passed away early Tuesday morning, June 4, 2024 at the Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton.

She was born October 7, 1931 in Warsaw, Mo., the daughter of Ray Clarence Stadler and Opal Matildia (Beaman) Stadler. She married John Gerald Scott on December 22, 1951 in Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on February 2, 1987.

Mary was employed as a teacher in Iconium, Mo.; post mistress in Wisdom, Mo.; she was also a substitute teacher in the Kansas City, Kansas school district; and later was head bookkeeper for Westport Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was a graduate of Warsaw High School and later attended Central Missouri State University, now University of Central Missouri. Mary was a member of Finey Baptist Church and also First Baptist Church in Clinton. She enjoyed playing cards, family vacations and traveling.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Scott (Vicky), Clinton, Mo., and Mitchell Scott, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two grandsons, Neil Scott and John Scott; one great-grandson, Nikolai Griffitt. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Terry Scott on April 13, 1975; and one brother, Daniel Hugh Stadler in 20212.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., just prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Iconium Cemetery, Iconium, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Iconium Cemetery or the Finey Baptist Church, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home. Update: Kansas City man killed in Bates County Crash

On Thursday June 6th around 5:05 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies, Bates County EMS and Rich Hill Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 near mile marker 120.8 near Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occured when the 2022 Toyota 4-Runner driven by 64 year old Michael S. Doll of Kansas City, Missouri traveled off the roadway and impacting a concrete bridge pillar.

Mr. Doll was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and he was transported to the Bates County Coroner's Office. This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 31st fatality accident of the year 2024. Next of kin notified.

T-storms return this evening and overnight

It's gonna be a toasty one today with highs in the upper 80s. There will be a chance for a few storms late afternoon, but the main event comes late tonight as a large complex of storms moves NW to SE through the region. Damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph will be the primary hazard.

Obituary - Charles Dean Ashby II

Charles Dean Ashby II, age 46, of Warsaw, Missouri passed away on June 2, 2024, at his home. He was born on July 11, 1977, in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles D. and Charlene O. Ashby.

In 2000 he moved to Warsaw, Missouri with his parents where he worked as a tree trimmer.

He is preceded in death by his mother Charlene O. Ashby on February 13, 2022, and his grandparents.

He is survived by his father, Charles D. Ashby of the home, two sons, David Ashby and Shane Johnson, two sisters, Leslee Prudden and Missi Hunter, both of Concordia, Missouri, 4 nephews and 1 niece, other relatives and friends.

Arrangements for cremation with no services scheduled at this time.

A large complex of thunderstorms is expected to traverse from northwest to southeast through the region late tonight into early tomorrow morning. 

The primary hazard will be damaging wind gusts up to 70-75 mph and locally heavy rainfall. Marginally severe hail (quarter size) will also be possible. The tornado threat is low, but a brief tornado is not completely out of the question.

There will be additional chances for storms tomorrow and tomorrow night, although at this time these appear to be less likely to be severe.

Fatality accident near Rich Hill

This evening (6/6/2024) at approximately 5:30PM I was called to the southbound lanes of Interstate 49 at the Rich Hill overpass. A vehicle traveled out of the southbound lane off the roadway and struck a pillar of the overpass.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle is identified as Michael Doll, 64 of Kansas City, Missouri.
