Search warrant served in Lamar

Last night your Lamar Police Officers were busy, as they served a search warrant to recover stolen property from a residence in the 1100 block of Hagny. Officers had been investigating a burglary that was reported on Monday at a building on E 12th St. here in Lamar. 

Their investigation led them to this residence. A search warrant was secured by working with the Barton County Prosecutor’s Office. Several items that had been previously reported stolen were recovered during the search.

Douglas E. Stafford, 54, of Lamar Mo and Tabitha A. McCulley, 46, of Lamar Mo, were both taken into custody and a request for formal charges of Receiving Stolen Property have been submitted to the Barton County Prosecutor’s Office.

This incident was investigated by Lt. Steve Shaw, Sgt. Oliver Cornell and Ofc. Kiley Gerster.

As is the case in all arrests, charges are based on probable cause and all persons are considered innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Officer involved crash south of Rich Hill

Emergency units are on scene of an accident at the 118 mile marker. Deputy was blocking a lane protecting the Rich Hill Fire Department who was extinguishing a grass fire in median. Shortly after a vehicle struck the Deputy’s patrol vehicle from the rear. After the impact the van burst into flames. 

One subject, from the other vehicle, is being life flighted to Kansas City. Multiple passengers are being transported via ambulance from the van. The deputy is being transported by patrol vehicle to the Emergency Room.

Breaking: Police officer struck on I-49 highway

The Butler fire department  and other first responders have been called to the scene of a reported officer struck by a vehicle on I-49 at mile marker 118 near Rich Hill.

It is also being reported that a vehicle is on fire near the same location; please use caution if traveling through the area and updates will be provided as they become available on Mid America Live.

Butler lady bears volleyball team gets first round district win

The Butler lady bears varsity volleyball team got the victory in the first round of districts tonight by sweeping the Stockton lady tigers in three sets: 25-16, 25-17, 25-17.

Butler will be back in action against the El Dorado Springs lady bulldogs on Thursday night. Enjoy some photos from the game tonight below:

Obituary - Zeb "Zebadoo" Michael Robertson

Zeb “Zebadoo” Michael Robertson age 44 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, October 17, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 14, 1980 to John Michael Robertson and Connie Bea DeLong in Kansas City, Missouri.

Zeb grew up on the westside of Kansas City, Missouri where he attended the Kansas City Middle School of the Arts, where he met Jolene and they were married on August 27, 2024. He continued his education at Alta Vista High School, forming friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. Zeb moved to Butler, Missouri in 2012 dedicated years of service to his community, working in maintenance at McDonald's and taking pride in every task he undertook. His diligence was only matched by his love for spending quality time with his family and son, with whom he shared a profound and unparalleled bond. He was a man who found joy in working on cars and anything that allowed him to work with his hands.

Remembered as the embodiment of love and friendship, Zeb possessed a remarkable ability to help and surprise others. His generous spirit and hearty appetite for life enriched the lives of all who knew him. Zebadoo's legacy of warmth and kindness will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends.

Zebadoo is survived by his wife Jolene Rene Berg-Robertson and a son, Brodie Robertson both of the home; three stepsons, Dalton Rooks and wife Saryn of Harrisonville, Missouri, Dominic Lentz and Noah Lentz both of Butler, Missouri; his mother, Connie Medina of Tonganoxie, Kansas; his stepfather, Manuel Medina and wife Rachel of Kansas City, Missouri; his aunt and uncle, Jody and Roger DeLong of Bonner Springs, Kansas; three brothers, Manuel Medina Jr of Kansas City, Missouri, Josh Robertson of Missouri and John Grado of New York; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; his maternal grandmother and grandfather, Laure and Harold DeLong; a sister, Veronica Medina; and an uncle, Ernie DeLong.

Structure fire this morning in Belton

Today the Belton Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the area of Sunny and Hargis.

Upon arrival, units discovered a small fire on the exterior of the residence which was quickly extinguished with no injuries. A discarded cigarette is believed to be the cause of this fire.

Currently the City of Belton is in a burn ban due to high winds and a lack of moisture causing a extreme drought in our area.

Today's winds create an extreme hazard for any heat producing devices to include discarded cigarettes. Please use caution during this time while disposing of heat producing devices.








Obituary - Beverly Ann Andes

On October 19, 2024, Beverly Ann “Bevy” Andes, loving wife, mother, Christian, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away at the age of 77. Beverly led a full and meaningful life in these many roles.

On March 29, 1947 she was born in Holden, Missouri. She was the sixth of seven children. Brothers, Raymond, John, James, and Richard Riffle. Sister Barbara Davis and youngest brother Donald Riffle.

In the summer of 1965 she met Berle Arlan “Andy” Andes, they were married on September 8, 1967 and were together for over 56 years. He preceded her to heaven on March 18, 2024. Of this union, two children were born Anita Andes [Edwards] Abby Weber [Joshua] Andrew Edwards [Audrey Jansen] Alex Edwards and Chris Andes [Tonya Knipp] Andes, Dominic and Gavan Andes.

Beverly was happiest when she was surrounded by family, at church, or reading her bible. She loved making others feel special, gardening, and filling her time with good memories. She was one of the kindest, giving women that ever lived.

Beverly retired from Garden City/Lead Bank after 40 plus years. After realizing she needed “something else to do” she went back to Community First Bank part time.

Beverly was a gentle soul that loved and listened completely. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Glada Riffle, Father and mother in-law Clifford Andes and Eloise. Three brothers (Raymond, John, James), one brother in law (Bill Davis), and one sister in law (Barbara Riffle).

Beverly was the cornerstone in many lives and will be missed immensely, but never forgotten. She was a blessing to everyone she met and we were blessed to be a part of her life.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Heart of Life Church, Garden City, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Heart of Life Church, Garden City, Missouri win interment at Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
