Elizabeth “Beth” Brown age 90 of Nevada passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin following a brief illness. Beth was born March 11, 1926 in St. John, Kansas to Joseph and Pearl (Baker) Woodruff. On August 24, 1946 she was married Jim Brown in Ft. Scott, KS and he survives of the home.
Beth was raised in Kansas and graduated from the Trousdale High School in Trousdale, KS. After moving to Milo the couple moved to Nevada in 1951. She worked for Nelly Don Garment Factory for a number of years. Beth later became an LPN and worked at the Nevada City Hospital for 17 years until her retirement in 1990. Beth was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada. In addition to her husband, Jim, survivors include one son, Don Brown of Nevada, daughter, Betty Sue Thorp and husband Charles of Nevada, 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Beth was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard Webster, and a sister, Minnie Roach.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Rorabaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7p.m. on Monday. Those who wish may contribute to a medical expense fund for Beth’s great-granddaughter, Jenna Abbott in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
