Funeral service will be 10am, Saturday, November 30 at the Lawson United Christian and Presbyterian Church 305 East 4th Street, Lawson, MO. Graveside service 2pm, Saturday at Double Branch Cemetery, Butler, MO. Monty was born November 7, 1965 to Don and Donna Griffin Moore in Butler, MO. He graduated from Butler High School in 1984. He received his degree from DeVry University. He was a member of the Lawson United Methodist Church, Bee Hive Masonic Lodge No. 393 in Lawson, MO, Butler Masonic Lodge No. 254 in Butler, MO, and Scottish Rite.
Monty moved to Kansas City in 1994 and worked for Sonic, Ferrellgas, and was currently employed at Cerner Corporation. In 2012 the family moved to Lawson. He often commented about how glad he was to be in Lawson. He loved the community and loved being a Lawson Cardinal. Once a Cardinal, Always a Cardinal.
Monty was an avid sports fan. He attended Chiefs games for many years, but then decided watching from the comfort of home was a better choice! If the Chiefs, Royals, or Missouri Tigers were playing he was probably watching. His absolute favorite thing in the entire world was watching his kids play ball – baseball, softball, basketball, or volleyball – it didn’t matter. He never missed a game and was always their #1 fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Moore in 2018.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Sarah, of the home; children, Katey and husband Tyler Gable, Garrett, Mary and Morgan Moore; granddaughter, Ellie Gable; Mother, Donna Moore; Sister, Janet (Jimmy) McCanles; mother and father-in-law, Roger and Susan Kohl; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Monty’s friends and co-workers at Cerner for their support over the past year. Your kindness went above and beyond and will never be forgotten. We also want to thank the ladies at KU Cancer Center North and Kansas City Hospice. You are all angels on earth.
