Bates County Sheriffs Office Captain Corbin and K9 Lector was the guest speaker yesterday for the Lions Club. Captain Corbin had a quick presentation then answered many great questions about K9 Lector and the K9 program at the Sheriffs Office.
K9 Lector has had 34 criminal apprehensions since being in service. K9 Lector is an 8 year old German Shepard.
The Sheriff’s Office has 2 K-9 units with the second being a Malinois male handled by Sgt. Justin Shaffer.
Both dogs are a valuable asset to our community in helping with criminal apprehensions and to combat drugs. These are working dogs that come to work with the Deputies everyday that the Deputy works.
The Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the Lions Club for the opportunity to explain to them the importance of a K9 program and how their taxes are being used to protect and serve the community.
