Obituary - Donna Jean Crockett
Donna Crockett, 54 of Amoret, Missouri died on August 9, 2023 peacefully at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri after battling ferociously against cancer for the last year. She was born November 22, 1968 to Ellis and Betty Holtzman in Chanute, Kansas.
Growing up in Thayer, Kansas the youngest of five children, she enjoyed her childhood on the farm. Some of her favorite stories to tell were of riding horses and spending time with her nieces, nephews, cousins, and many others who would frequent the Holtzman place. She was baptized at Thayer Christian Church. She attended Thayer schools from kindergarten to graduation, graduating in 1987. She met Richard Crockett while in high school and even though she was not at first interested, their love grew. The two were married on August 1, 1987. Following their wedding the pair moved to Joplin, Missouri to attend Ozark Christian College. Donna graduated with her Associates degree before attending Missouri Southern State University to obtain a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education.
Donna was a faithful wife, following Richard wherever the Lord called him in ministry. Over the years she taught in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Throughout her 31 year teaching career, she taught every elementary grade except for 3rd, and spent time working with preschoolers and their parents in the PAT program. For the past 4 years, she had taught first grade in Pleasanton, Kansas. Donna’s passion for teaching was strong, and her heart was always for her students. She often referred to them as not just her students, but her “kids.” She was a devoted mother to her four children. She made every effort to see all of her children participate in as many of their activities as she could. Donna’s favorite activity her kids participated in was band. She went to every concert, contest, and festival she could, and even joined for two big trips to Florida and California. Being a “band mom” was something she was very proud of!
After years of focusing on her children’s education Donna went back to school in 2015 to get her Masters. In 2017 she graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in Library Sciences. During this time she also became a Grandma, which was her favorite title and role that she held over her life. Any time off or long weekend she had, she did her best to visit her grandchildren. She loved to read with them, play outside, go on adventures, and teach them new things. She loved watching Abel play soccer, jumping on the trampoline with Lucas, and having tea parties with Riley. Abel, Lucas, and Riley will always know how much their grandma loved them.
When Richard and Donna moved to Amoret in 2019 it was the first time in 28 years that they didn’t have a child living at home. Together they planted a vast garden, attended Kansas City Royals games, and continued to pour into the people around them. In the past year Donna was also blessed to have her sweet pup, Rey.
Donna lived her life fully devoted to Christ. In all she did, her goal was to honor God and love those around her like Jesus. She had a deep love for God’s Word, studying it each and every day. There are people all across the United States, and even around the world, who have been impacted by Donna’s heart for God and for people. Her lasting legacy of the kingdom reaches far and wide, and she will be missed by many who she has mentored in their walks with Christ.
Donna is survived by her husband, Richard; her four children, Patrick Crockett, Rachel Pittman & husband, Zachary, Caleb Crockett & wife, Erin, and Rebekah Crockett; her grandchildren, Abel, Lucas, and Riley Pittman; her siblings, Barbara & David Powers, Judy & Randy Stafford, Eddie & Nancy Holtzman, and Jimmy & Sharon Holtzman; 25 nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew, one great nephew, and one grandchild.

Obituary - Rebecca Jean Anderson
Becca was born June 28, 1982 to Mark G. and Christy J. (Graybill) Anderson in Harrisonville, MO. She was a lifelong resident of Cass County, MO, graduating from Cass Midway Schools with the Class of 2000. She went on to attend Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO, to earn her associates degree. Becca spent her career working as a claims adjuster for Farmers Insurance, starting in October of 2008 until her passing.
Rebecca Jean loved being a mother and was fiercely proud of her two daughters, Lillian and Lizzy. Lillian remembers her mother “as being an advocate for people to be themselves. She was the best best friend to her kids and supported them more than words will ever say. She is the reason I am the person I will always be and my accomplishments go out to her for making me who I am". Lizzy shares, "I love her so much and though she isn't here she will always be with me; she was always there for me and tried her best. I will always cherish how she made me the girl I am today. She taught me a lot.”
Rebecca left an indelible impression on everyone she met. With a personality as unique as her select hair color, she was a friend to all. Becca was always hosting the friends she collected at her house and made them family. She once said "I guess I am the light that brought all you dark moths together", she had no idea how right she was. You could feel her unconditional love in every fluffy hug she gave and lived for her family, both blood and chosen. She was crazy and wonderfully weird and we are all looking forward to her haunting us.
She loved to tend to her plants, read whatever book she happens to be near, turning the music up loud and making the people around her happy. To say that she will be missed is an understatement as she is the reason so many of us have flourished.
Becca is preceded in death by her father, Mark Anderson, and her sister, Katherine Anderson. She is survived by mother, Christy Anderson; her two daughters: Lillian Lamport and Lizzy Lamport; her significant other, Eric Taylor; her "soul mate" and dear friend, Catrina Jurdan; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Judy Graybill; and many extended family and friends.

Obituary - Aaron Gammon
Aaron was a teacher and a coach at Nixa Junior High School, but his family was his life. Aaron was smart and funny. His smile and his personality were contagious. He did so many things out of the kindness of his incredible heart. He loved to make his girls laugh. He loved his family more than anything and his favorite things to do were spend time with his wife and daughters. He loved to take his girls to Branson in the summer or work on projects for the house.
If a quick nap in the afternoon could be snuck in there somewhere, it was a perfect day. He loved hunting, camping, dancing and singing with Danielle and the girls. Aaron had a way of planning things to make the most special people in his life feel that way. He loved the "wow factor " of planning a trip, a gift, a holiday, or any celebration - but he never expected anybody to return the favor. He loved his students, his coworkers, his friends, and his family so much. We will all miss him in different ways and life on earth will never be the same, but we will see him again someday in heaven. Aaron is looking down on us smiling and he is at peace with the Lord, his grandpa Jim, and his dog Kilo.
Survivors include: His wife Danielle Gammon of Nixa; daughter, Brooklyn, step-daughter, Emma, daughter Audrey; his parents, Alan and Andrea Gammon of Clever, his sister Allison Hails and husband Adam of Clever, and his grandmother, Sue Gammon of Clever.

Explosives found in Pleasant Hill
What we know:
Resident received property from a recently deceased relative. Resident was opening boxes and discovered the explosives Resident contacted the Pleasant Hill Police Department, The Lees Summit Police Department Bomb Squad is on scene. They will be removing the explosives from the shed and conducting an on-site, controlled detonation.
The Sugarland walking trail, along with a portion of Sugarland Parkway will be closed briefly for the controlled detonation.
8/8/23 1:03 pm
The explosive located were classified as a G 1.4 explosive device. They are similar in explosive capability to that of a consumer grade firework. The explosives were old and what many may previously know as a railroad torpedo.
Prior to modern signaling, advanced communication devices, and other advances in our railway systems, these “railroad torpedoes” were used an audible signal device to oncoming trains to stop immediately. It was a signal that a train may be stopped ahead on the same line or some other hazardous condition may exist.
The railroad torpedo’s or railway detonators are coin sized devices, strapped to the top of a rail line, usually in pairs, and would detonate when an oncoming train went over them.
The area is now clear and normal activities can be resumed.
There were no injuries during this incident. A special thanks to the Lees Summit Police Departments Bomb Squad for their assistance and expertise.
Obituary - Peter "Tim" Burroughs
Tim dedicated many years of his life to the lumber industry and was renowned for his exceptional skills as a finish carpenter.
Tim's passion for carpentry was only matched by his love for his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and Paw Paw, cherishing the time spent with his loved ones, especially his grandbabies. His warm heart, sense of humor, and kind, compassionate spirit made him a cherished friend to many.
Tim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending time in nature with his friends and family—camping, fishing, and hunting. Tim would always extend an invite for others to join him on the lake for a day of fishing. Many will tell you stories about the times they spent with him doing just that.
Tim is sorely missed by his three children and their spouses: Dara (Chris), Tate (Justina), and Kyler (Andrea), as well as his children’s mother and friend, Jana. As his kids faced the ups and downs of life, they always had the comfort of knowing that their dad's guidance was just a phone call away. Whether they needed advice on handling a difficult situation, repairing their car, or fixing a problem in their home, he was a steadfast pillar of support and a source of unconditional love and knowledge.
Tim leaves behind his grandbabies: Natalie, Braxton, Dane, Ella, Serenity, Landen, Mykenzie, and Parker. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by them. He relished in their laughter, their innocent curiosity, and their boundless energy.
Tim is preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Jim; his brother, Mike; niece, Darci; and loving parents, Billie and James. He is survived by his siblings: April (Gary), Randy (Heather), Eric (Heather), their children, and his many beloved cousins who grew up alongside the Burroughs children. He loved his nephews and nieces dearly.
A memorial service to celebrate Tim's life will be held on August 20, 2023, at Harrisonville City Park, Shelter #7, at 12 pm. His family will be celebrating his life with lunch after his service and doing what Tim loved to do most: spending time with family and friends. Bring your rod; there is a lake on-site for fishing. If you’d like to bring a dish to share, please feel free to bring one!
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their condolences and support during this difficult time.
"Though he may be gone from our sight, Tim will forever live on in our hearts through the memories we shared and the love he left behind."
