Obituary - Sandra Sue Robb

Funeral services for Sandra Robb will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Salem Cemetery, Foster, Missouri. Contributions to Salem Cemetery or Heartland Hospice.

Sandra Sue Robb, age 68 of Foster, Missouri died Friday, December 9, 2016 at her home in Foster. She was born February 19, 1948 to Darrell Jackson and Elisabeth “Betty” Bisterfeldt Crain in Butler, Missouri.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Stanley Robb of Foster; one son, Leon Robb and wife Kelley of Rich Hill; one daughter, Tricia Robb of Belton; one brother, Ronald Crain and wife Letha of Foster; one sister, Beck Robb of Rich Hill; and four grandsons, Corey Ensor, Cody Ensor, Josh Robb and Blaine Robb. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Martin Russell McCormick, age 87 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his home in Butler. He was born March 17, 1929 to Forest Ellis and Verna Alice Webb McCormick in Metz, Missouri.

Martin is survived by his wife, Lois McCormick of Butler, Missouri; one son, Donald McCormick and wife Christine of Raymore, Missouri; one daughter, Terri Ellis of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Rex McCormick and wife Vera of Louisburg, Kansas; one sister, Delores Cronin of Kansas City, Kansas; a brother-in-law, Lennie Dale of Hume, Missouri; five grandchildren including Sonita Loyd of the home; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Evelyn Dale; infant son, Tommy; and infant daugher Sheila.

Marcia Sue Morris, age 63 of Drexel, Missouri died Friday, December 9, 2016 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born July 10, 1953 to Lester Ward and Dorothy Nadine Adams Bourland in Butler, Missouri.

Marcia, the oldest of two girls, grew up near Amoret, Missouri and attended Miami R-1 School, graduating in 1971. She furthered her education at Baker University. She was united in marriage to Gary Morris and to this union, two sons were born. Marcia worked as an office manager for J&M Sportswear in Overland Park and KeyWest Technology in Lenexa.

Marcia enjoyed gardening, frequenting garage sales, camping and going to the lake. Her other enjoyments included her cats and horses, birdwatching and going for a drive. She was so proud of her granddaughter’s accomplishments and never missed any of her school activities.

Marcia is survived by her son, Steve Morris of Kansas City, Kansas; one sister, Marian Poindexter and husband Darrel of Drexel, Missouri; and one granddaughter, Olivia Grace Morris. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Alex Morris.

Marcia embodied kindness. She was an incredibly thoughtful and compassionate person to all, helping anyone she could in any way she could. She loved her family with all her heart and was always there when any of us needed her. Her positive attitude never wavered, even during the very toughest of times. Even though we miss her terribly, her wonderful caring spirit will always hold us close and comfort us. Marcia, we love you so very much and will see you again someday.

Two injured in Belton hit and run accident

The Belton Police Department along with Cass County Sheriffs Deputies are currently investigation a hit and run accident that injured two pedestrians this evening around the area of Y Highway and Main Street in Belton. 

The vehicle that fled from the scene is said to be a older model white unknown year Ford Explorer.

Obituary - Laura Jean Gray

Laura Jean Gray
Laura Jean Gray 37, was born September 2, 1979 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri at 7:02 am to Mark and Paula (Wareham) Gray.  She passed away December 8, 2016 due to a automobile accident. 

Funeral services for Laura J. Gray will be held Monday December 12, 2016 at Sheldon- Goodrich Chapel in Osceola, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1pm - 2pm and the funeral will follow. Burial will be in the Taberville Cemetery in Taberville, Missouri.

Laura Jean Gray went to school in Appleton City, Missouri for 13 years, graduating with the class of 1997. Laura spent her life making friends and doing for others, devoting her time to her children, family and friends. She loved spending time on her porch in the presence of loved ones. 

She loved to cook, sew and garden. Laura was very involved in her kids sports and school activities. She had a passion for life that was immeasurable. Everything she did, she did with love. Laura was preceded in death by her grandparents, Blane Gray (Cocky), Jeanne Wareham and best friend Dusty Schell. 

She is survived by her parents, Mark and Paula Gray; companion Jeremiah Johnson; daughter Gabby McNary; 3 sons Blane and Dalton Shonfelt and Cole Johnson; sister, Sarah Gray; grandmother, Jo Gray, other relatives and many, many friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone! 



Obituary - John W. Mitchel

John W. Mitchel, 94, of Montrose, Missouri passed away at the West Regional Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri December 9, 2016.

John was born May 9, 1922 in Montrose, Missouri the son of Fred Matthew and Hattie May (Van Gordon) Mitchel. John served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was married to Aileen Holt and they were blessed with two sons. John was a farmer and dairyman throughout his lifetime and had currently been residing at the Warrensburg Veterans Home in Warrensburg. John had been a faithful member of the Montrose Presbyterian United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Aileen Mitchel of Appleton City, Missouri and two sons, Jerry Mitchel of Montrose, Missouri and Terry Mitchel of Clinton, Missouri.
Funeral plans for Mr. Mitchel are incomplete at this time.
