Senior taxi to be running as scheduled this week

The Senior taxi service, based out of the Senior Center will be running as scheduled this week. We are evaluating what service we can provide during this health crisis. We are taking safety precautions for drivers and passengers alike and are urging our patrons to limit unnecessary trips. We will try and transport only one person at a time. We ask that our customers evaluate their health prior to calling. Do you have a low grade fever, non productive cough? These are symptoms you should look for. Our drivers will be evaluated for the same symptoms. If you have one or both of these symptoms, please call you Doctor for instructions before asking for taxi service. Our goal right now, even though the Senior Center is closed temporarily is to provide needed transportation to our Seniors.

Adrian Staff, Students, and Parents,
One of the Adrian R-III goals for all students and employees is safety. As we have considered what is the best course of action in responding to the coronavirus epidemic, we have asked ourselves what is best for all of our students, staff, and community. While we do not want to overreact, burden families in any way, interrupt the learning process, limit students from eating, or limit opportunities for our students, we feel it is best to extend our spring break for another two days. Monday, March 16, and Tuesday, March 17, school will be cancelled. All activities, practices, and trips will also be canceled or postponed the week of March 16-20 as well. This will allow us time to gain more understanding of this unprecedented situation while doing everything we can to ensure that all our students, staff, and community are as safe as possible.

We will continue to work with local and state agencies to monitor the situation and make decisions that we feel are best for all of our students, staff, and community. We will continue to communicate with everyone as we progress through this challenging time. I want to thank everyone for their understanding, patience, and support over the past few days and for the weeks ahead.
Don Lile
Adrian R-III Superintendent.

Drexel Staff, Students and Parents,

Drexel Staff, Students and Parents,
One of the responsibilities of the Drexel R-IV School District is to ensure the safety for all students and employees. As we have considered what the best course of action is in responding to the coronavirus epidemic, we have asked ourselves what is best for all of our students, staff and community. While we do not want to overreact, burden families in any way, interrupt the learning process, limit students from receiving meals or limit opportunities for our students, we feel it is best to extend our spring break for another two days. School will be cancelled for Monday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 17th. All activities, practices and trips will also be cancelled or postponed the week of March 16 – 20 as well. This will allow us time to gain more understanding of this unprecedented situation while doing everything we can to ensure that all of our students, staff, and community are as safe as possible.

We will continue to work with local and state agencies to monitor the situation and make decisions that we feel are best for all of our students, staff and community. We will continue to communicate with everyone as we navigate through this challenging time. I want to thank everyone for their support, patience and understanding over the last few days and for the weeks ahead.

Just today I read a profound statement from a school superintendent who said, “In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be quite apparent if we under reacted or did too little.”
Respectfully,
Terry Mayfield,
Superintendent

Way to go Archie Elementary

Archie Elementary students collected $1,087.49 during our Kids Kicking Cancer Campaign! All funds were given to Gannon’s Gang to help local families with children battling cancer. Mrs. Mell’s class collected the most money during the campaign. On Tuesday, they were able to “pie” their teacher or Ms. Silvey (mostly Ms. Silvey).

A few students from the second and third place classes were chosen to “pie” Ms. Silvey as well. Last, but not least, some of the original Caring Whirlwinds, now seniors, got to join in on the fun. Thank you to Mrs. Botkin and the Caring Whirlwinds for leading this event!

Community Food Pantry of Butler Operational Changes Effective Mar. 16, 2020

Butler Food pantry board members and staff have established temporary operational changes due to the current COVID-19 pandemic as we consider the following:

• Our food pantry is vital to many residents of our county
• Most of our volunteers are in the COVID-19 higher risk category
• A great percentage of our clients are in the COVID-19 higher risk category
• We need to keep our paid staff healthy in order to keep the food pantry operational

Effective, Monday, March 16, 2020 we will temporarily switch from our current “client choice” pantry (allows clients to choose from available food items) to pre-packaged food boxes that our staff members will assemble. We have also asked our higher risk volunteers to stay home during this time.

During this time we will not allow clients admittance to our building or our working dock area.

All clients with or without appointments are asked to form a line (staying in your vehicle) along the south side of the building (where you normally load your groceries). You will drive up, stay in your vehicle and provide your name to a pantry staff member. Your grocery items will be delivered to the concrete dock area where you may then load them in your vehicle and leave so the next client may be assisted. A staff member will sign our documentation on your behalf.

We ask that you have patience with our hard working staff members and stay in your vehicles. There is also no need to panic. We have plenty of food on hand. We ask that you arrive at your normal appointment day and time.

Food Pantry Service Hours
Monday – Thursday
8:15am-3:00pm (Closed 11:30-12:30 for lunch)
If you are arriving without an appointment, please do not arrive between 11:00am and 1:00pm.
