On Jan. 21, the St. Clair County Jail staff reported a theft of commissary funds from one inmate by another inmate.
Investigation revealed an inmate accessed the in jail commissary kiosk account for another inmate.
Further investigation revealed one inmate cancelled an outstanding order for product/services and used the funds to purchase phone use services that were later used and traded to other inmates. It was noted the inmate accessed and used the account without the other inmate’s consent or permission.
The amount of product/services stolen totaled $106.10. Formal charges are pending.
